L’Île de Gorée


Just in front of Dakar sits the infam­ous Île de Gorée, once a small centre for the slaves trade. 

The two for­ti­fic­a­tions in the island — the Dutch and the more recent French one — were used dur­ing World War II, and today they are home of artists and musicians.

It was not pos­sible to take pic­tures in the Mais­on des esclaves but you can get inform­a­tion from the Wiki entry linked above.
